Manufacturing
SMP EUROPE utilizes world-class technical research and development resources with the latest manufacturing techniques combined to produce market-leading product ranges which meet or exceed OE quality. From concept to distribution, our product design and manufacturing timeline is constantly evolving to keep our position as a global leader in the manufacturing of aftermarket Ignition and Engine Management components.
Manufacturing
SMP EUROPE has a fully equipped R&D centre of excellence at our Nottingham HQ, with the latest software, equipment and processes. A large portion of our investment in recent years has gone into our engineering capabilities, increasing our staffing and equipment levels. Our engineering team are involved in the complete journey of our products designing 3D models, tooling, componentry, and the manufacturing process.
Manufacturing
SMP EUROPE has manufactured ignition components since its inception. Across SMP Europe’s two sites in Nottingham UK, and Torun, Poland, we have a combined manufacturing space of over 100,000 sq feet. Our Nottingham site is home to the Electronics Production Cell, which makes the complex custom-designed electronics featured in many of SMP EUROPE’s products. Using the latest equipment and techniques we are always adding to our range of manufactured products which includes Switches and Sensors, ECU Electronics, Leads and Coils and Mass Air Flow Sensors. Thanks to our innovative manufacturing methods we are able to implement rapid prototyping of product, resulting in ‘concept to in range’ in a very short time period with no ramifications on quality or reliability.
Manufacturing
All of our products must pass a strict end of line testing procedure before being considered ready for market. This includes visual, functional and parametric testing in our in house Validation Test Laboratory, home to 3 Thermal Cycle Ovens, capable of stressing products from -70°C to +180°C, as well as a Thermal Shock Chamber. Two Hot Soak Ovens complete the life cycle testing regime, capable of testing product for extended periods at +250°. Vibration testers and a Salt Spray Machine and a bespoke Electromagnetic Test unit supplement the test capabilities, consistent with Tier 1 aftermarket requirements.
